Fortnite How to Get a Lump of Coal

If you're wondering how to get a lump of coal in Fortnite then you've come to the right place! We'll take a look at where you get this throwable item, and why exactly you'll need to know where to get one. These aren't the most useful item, but there is one trick you can do with them that might be helpful to you.
Winterfest is here and along with the event comes the Winterfest 2019 Challenges! One of these challenges requires that you, "Deal damage to an opponent with a Lump of Coal." To do this, you will need to do a fair bit of searching around the map for either a lootable item or a new chest object.

How to Get a Lump of Coal

To get a Lump of Coal you need to find a Present in the game or loot an Ice Box. The Presents are legendary items that are pretty rare, but can be found from time to time as floor loot. It's possible that they come out of chests as well, but I've personally have not seen that. Once you find a present, you can throw it on the ground a large wrapped box will appear! Hack it open and see what the gifts inside end up being!

If you're lucky, you will find yourself a Lump of Coal! You can also find them in Ice Boxes which are spread around the map. Here's what they look like:

You can find these on the map in the following locations:

This is what we need to complete one of those Winterfest Challenges. You can throw the coal like you would a grenade, by selecting it then pressing and holding the fire button. You will need to lob this at some unsuspecting victim and hit them with it. Team Rumble will likely be ideal for this because you can drop on someone and throw it at them, or even heave it at some person who went afk. There's a lot of opportunities for getting this easily done in that mode.
If you weren't aware, there's also a secondary use for the Lump of Coal. There's a new mechanic in the game that allows you to Stoke a Campfire. You pay 30 wood and the healing you receive from the campfire will be accelerated. If you don't want to pay wood, you can throw the coal onto the already ignited fire and it will become stoked!
